Under Canvas was the inspiration for our Utah trip and it did not disappoint! We had booked 2 nights at Under Canvas, which, from the hundreds of TripAdvisor and IG photos I had scrolled through dozens of times, looked like a glamping dream! I didn’t have high expectations for wheelchair accessibility, and at the time of our booking, didn’t even think to ask for an accessible tent, cause, who has accessible tents?! Well, Under Canvas does! Amazing!! I’ve suggested they advertise this on their website so that people like me don’t make assumptions and end up passing them by. Unfortunately the accessible tent was taken while were there, otherwise they would have moved us. I had booked 1 night in a Safari room and 1 night in a Deluxe room. Deluxe rooms are called Deluxe because they have private bathrooms (a bathroom right inside the tent). Obviously this comes at a higher price, hence why we only had 1 night in this style of room. The bathrooms for the Safari style room are in a shared trailer, BUT! … They have a separate accessible bathroom in a whole separate trailer! Under Canvas! You’re killin’ me with amazing! The paths throughout the camp were flat but gravely. This was not a problem with my FreeWheel, but without the FreeWheel, there were areas that may have been a little slow going for a manual wheelchair with small front wheels. The reception area, the campfire (where s’more making kits are put out nightly, yessss!) are all accessible by this gravel path. Side note: Mark tried his first ever s’more on this trip and loved it!!! Very fun sharing this moment with him! We were able to park our car quite close to our tent, making loading and unloading easy. Keep in mind, there are no outlets inside the tent, just battery packs to power lanterns and charge phones or other small devices. Heat comes from a wood burning stove inside the tent, and air conditioning comes from fans and misting sprays. There is no restaurant onsite, but you’re about a 10 minute drive into town which offers a variety of options. Also, you can order breakfast and lunch from the reception area before 9pm for the next day which will be delivered to the camp at around 6am. Both meals are packaged so you can take them to go.
Will you be visiting soon? Where else have you camped (or glamped)?
